The Imas Mask of Nulis.

When I felt that inexplicable slight sensation of being watched from the corner of my eye, I turned to find myself staring at the empty eyes of the Imas Mask. Its fully-painted face had a peculiar expression, part empty, part terrified, and part mildly disapproving. The large wooden flaps protruding from either side of its had gave the impression of it having extremely large ears, although it took a second look for me to see that there were arms painted on these ears. This mental image so amused and intrigued me that I read the description near the object to find out why someone would make and display a mask of a stern little man with gigantic ears, and tiny little arms.

The Kwakwakawakw Imas mask, it said, was used in a winter ceremony, the tseka, when a deceased chief that the mask represents passes down his rights and privileges. It is said to tell the story of ancestors descending from the myth worlds as animals and transforming into humans. I could see it so clearly in my minds eye a ceremony around a bonfire, the mask in prominent display in the middle, then when the proper chanting and singing were done and the hour is nigh, a glowing ethereal apparition is seen rising from the mask to address his people one last time. Unfortunately my mind over-romanticized the ceremony as it turns out the ceremony was a dance to reenact the legend of the great ancestor that the mask represented. Nulis, that was the name of my grand ghostly apparition, he had come disguised as a bear and had even vanquished a two-headed serpent. The protrusion at the top of the masks head resembled that of an animal, it must the bear, Nuliss emblem. The tiny arms painted on either side were raised up, at first I thought this was a gesture of supplication, or maybe worship but why would such a great and legendary chief such as Nulis make either gesture This must be a gesture of blessing then, raising his arms to bestow his rights and privileges to his worthy descendants.

The paper said there were at least 2 other Imas masks of the great Nulis, all of them with the same painted face, the animal head at the top, and the gigantic ears. As I looked closely at the picture of the other Nulis mask I realized they were not ears at all, but possibly the outlines of a mans face. Why did Nulis have two other faces Did that mean that he could see all, or that he had two other forms Or maybe they represent the two-headed serpent the holder of the Nulis name defeated in the legend but they are clearly human outlines so that is not the most logical explanation. And as I thought about it, if the mask was used at the start of tseka when the ancestor is said to return one last time, why were there more than one mask Was the mask worn by someone of authority to take role of the ancestor in the ceremony, or was my imagination of ghosts and ancient magic a possibility The little holes that serve as the masks stare back at me, the painted lips perpetually pulled to the side in what now looks to me like disappointment  it has no answers for me.

Analysis and Response.

Reflecting on the analysis of the advertisement, it can be seen that the function corresponds to the notion of using these symbolisms to gain attention. However, the value and integrity of targeting the audience according to the specific productservice should correspond mainly to its purpose. Seeing this, the analysis was right in implying that the usage of negative connotation among women should not purposely target what people think may be fun. At the same time, the usages of such symbols then necessitate increasing masculinity among men. These processes in turn results to the development of unfair and unequal ways that products are given to the public.

On the other hand, the use of womens body parts revolves around the usage of personification and application of framing in advertising reflects a distorted view on the way people view products. Since it does not really point out the value and relevance of the productservice given but rather allocate something that appeals more to the visual and ego of individuals. Due to this, there is now a corresponding challenge for advertisers to appeal to people sincerely and approach the realness of the product. That is why the appeal provided by the ad seeks to showcase the intensification of something that is distorted rather than appealing to the crowd.

Approaching the Real and the Fake Living Life in the Fifth World,Congdon and Blandy state that Gmez-Pea (1996) encourages us to understand and appreciate that this experience of unreality is the reality of living in what he refers to as the fifth world. How have you experienced unreality through art Post an image.

The formulation of something real and something that induces aesthetic experience stems from the original intention to create awareness not only to the senses but also to ones emotions. However, creating a pseudo-type of reaction that is rooted on an egotistic nature would only result in the inability to appreciate the real beauty behind the art. It now becomes relatively a masterpiece for the business fitting for a sale and seeking a worthy buyer. Thus, in essence, Congdon and Blandy are right in identifying that there exists such a fifth world exists and is slowly degrading the way people value and appreciate beauty, aesthetics, and art.
Looking at it, the ad symbolizes something that is valuable and seeks to direct the relationship between the real target entity and that of what can be seen. Due to this, it clearly forms a faade among viewers as the true nature of the ad becomes overshadowed by the voluptuous features by the woman. Thus, the essence of using such approach clearly delineates the function of using visual art towards engaging the individual to something that is worthwhile.

The Great Art.

The great art gives an opportunity of enlightening the future generations by presenting the invisible world. The present generation can be used to pave way to the future generation by putting things in order. Artists play a big role in bringing forth ideas for future use. They should create arts of any stuff despite of its downfall from the present generation. The work of artist may sound bogus to the present people by very important to the future. The future generation will be appreciative on the arts work. This can be attested by referring to the pyramids of Egypt. The great art portrayed in Viking hoard holds something for the future. The future generation should be given the opportunity of appreciating the beautiful work of artists if only they view what they love. This can be achieved through preservation of art work although it might be distasteful to the present generation. (Pernety, 1993)

The future generation which will be composed of great grandchildren should be furnished with present events through the art world. The future generation will be eager to access some of the events and people they love. This can only be achieved through great art. They may be interested in the great art portrayed in the pyramid found in Egypt. Since art is the presentation of the invisible, it unveils the latest and most loved things (Pernety, 1993). The great art of Viking hoard gives some light to the expectation of artists in meeting the demands of people.

The great art is crucial for the future because of various reasons. The great takes in to consideration the invisible world. This enables deduce what can not be obtained through senses. In this case, logic can not applied in analyzing the invisible. Therefore, the great art holds something great for the future.
My desire to pursue a Masters Degree in Fashion was born of my love for this industry. Ever since I was a child, I have always been intrigued by fashion. Drawing and sketching has been a perennial hobby which I brought along with me as I grew up. I distinctly remember that I spent a lot of time sketching clothes more than anything else. I also grew up watching fashion shows on television where I studied the clothes worn by the models. I told myself that someday one of the clothes worn by those beautiful models will be of my creation.

Throughout college, I prepared myself for this dream continuing to design clothes on my sketchbook. I majored in communications and advertising in preparation for this dream. These two fields will be of benefit to me as I try to enter this field. I believe that fashion is all about communication. It is about informing clients what clothes to wear and what not to wear during a particular season. It is an understatement to say that effective communication is the key to being successful in this field. By having this foundation in communication, I am armed with the knowledge on how this information may be effectively passed on the clientele on various media.  As one who majored in advertising, I am also armed with the necessary background not only to give out information on what is fashionable but also to make these fashionable items interesting enough to invite sales which is one of the prime objectives.

I specialize in fashion design. It can be noted from my first statements that this is my passion. I love the idea of creating new styles in clothes. I like introducing novel ideas in the fashion industry. In my heart and mind, I want to be able to see beauty in all of the people I meet which I express through designing. Coupled with this passion, of course, is my goal of seeing my designs being worn by people. That is why I want to learn more about fashion merchandizing. I want to see my designs not only on paper but also on warm bodies. This is where my fulfillment lies.

My pursuit of this Masters degree is aimed at a few worthwhile objectives which I hopefully want to achieve in the near future. First, I intend to create my own clothing line which I would personally design. This clothing lines target market is young professionals starting from the middle class up to the upper class. This is my goal because I want to make fashion affordable not only to the upper class. I want to be able to make high-end clothes which can be worn by those in the middle class. I want my clothes to be worn by people from different socio-economic strata from the famous movie actress to the sports champion to the struggling news anchor and the newly-hired call center agent.

Furthermore, I intend to market the clothing line on a global scale utilizing all forms of media which would include the internet because as of now this is where this clothing line will be most accessible from people all over the world. This is also the most affordable means of advertising especially for beginners such as me. However, in the near future, hopefully, I also want my clothing line to be launched in a fashion show and in other print media such as fashion magazines and catalogues. The ultimate goal is to have my designs to be known and worn not only by people in the upper class but also those in the middle class.

I believe that my career in the fashion industry has started when I was a child when I started weaving dreams of creating clothes for those models. This Masters degree will be a sort of graduation for me providing me with the license to market all of my designs. For others, this degree is not a requirement but I take the opposite view. I am taking this course because I want to be able to do the best in this industry. I want to be able to back my passion with the proper education because I know that I owe this to my future clients. This is the key to giving them the best value for their patronage.

Leon Golub, Vietnam II, 1973

Leon Golub, a well-known-painter in his era for his unique figurative image contributed lots of master piece. His works usually depict contemporary issues, showing the effects of individual and institutional power. Examples of these are the Vietnam II (1973), Interogation III (1981), Disappear You (2001) The Black Does Not Enterrupt the Killing  (2002).

Since Golub is fond of  goddes images or classical mythology and portrayal of  physique from ancient Roman and Greek sculpture, he uses figures that are indistinguishable to human figures. His style in paintings varies due to the mood he wants to show to the viewers. A method of  coating and shreding away paint is what he engaged for his sculptural technique. Leon became involved with the Monster Roster group in Chicago. They belived that a noticeable link to the external world and real occurence was crucial if a work of art have pertinence to people or the community.

As said earlier, his works usually showes contemporary issues as for example, his work Vietnam II. This painting illustrates the result of power and conflict that is an issue in the country. He knows that the representation will be essential for the Vietnams society since they are in the situation.
Golubs wife, Nancy Spero who is also an American painter and his contemporary artist tackles a related theme. One is about the matters emerging from abuse of power. Likewise, she has a soft spot also for goddesses and classic mythology. One of their collaborated work, Gigantomachy II illustrated figurative image which has an allusion to warriors of classical wars.

Reflective Essay.

The ability of culture to cater and cultivate new dimensions of identity building remains to be the key indicators that pave the rise of civilizations. It showcases the necessary ability to exert influence and superiority among its corresponding contemporaries. These in turn becomes not only a symbol for power but creates a lasting contribution that transcends over time. By carefully understanding these realities, one can then decipher not only the relevance of the values and involvement in history but also determine its value and permanence.

Analyzing the relevant trends that have been present in history, I can imagine that there has been constant effort among powerful leaders and civilizations to leave behind its legacy something that can transcend over time and demonstrate their capacity and power. It is through such that the development of art can be seen. Different examples can be seen as manifests for such and all of these resemble not only the value of cultures and traditions but also the realization of finding the means to justify such greatness.

Seeing this, I do believe that the King of Namar chose to symbolize his cultures pride and influence through the palette is a good symbolism towards the capacity to illustrate their significance during their time. What better way to exhibit such dominance and the principles the society adheres than by visual art. Each painting not only shows the uniqueness and ability of the artist. It also shows the willingness to portray the life and actions of the people. Such then becomes a vital tool in fostering dimensions of transcendence.

At the same time, I also realized that these paintings reflect on the pathways towards development and growth. Each illustration I believe contribute towards something brilliant and exuberant that needs to be made. It is through such ability that King Namar was able to record all these events and gave us nowadays a better picture of how life was during their period.

With the case of the ancient cave paintings in France, I also believe that the artwork also represent power and unity of the inhabitants. With the limited capacity for people during that time, I do believe that engaging into such intricate drawings illustrate the move towards finding a formal way to communicate. It is through this that they have interacted with their counterparts and to us as well. Despite the idea that they had never intended to do such, their contributions become significant in helping me realize that there is unity in their work.

It is through such ideas that I believe that the cave paintings in France indeed symbolize power and unity. Even if the people during that time were relatively small in number, it is their apparent capacity to create one form of communal practice (through paintings) becomes a necessary component to extend their power and influence as time passed.

Lastly, I also believe that the Stonehenge is also a source of unifying culture and power because of the same abilities prescribed with the two examples. In here, I see that the collaborative effort by different individuals and groups to create such magnificent monument clearly illustrate a shared idea and beliefs. Seeing this, it becomes a shared symbol that commemorates the essence of unification not only of interests but also of principles. Such outcome then resulted to redefining its power and value.

In the end, the course has been effective in portraying on my part the significance of culture through time. It does not mainly represent the important contributions that each one provided. Rather, it is the one theme to expand and illustrate something that can foster their sense of identity and value. Seeing this, I will argue that these elements and contributions remain to be an essential symbolism used by man to justify their existence and worth during a particular time. By partaking into such conditioning, the true nature of culture becomes apparent and showcases a unifying force that becomes an essential representation of power.

Fashion Show 2010.

Fashion dictates the beauty in society. Unlike any other careers, fashion can dominate people through describing what fits in and do not. It sets a standard of belonging with the current event. Trends in fashion change every year. New clothing styles and make-up effects are being invented or mixed up, and sometimes, old ones are being reborn. Popular trends describe the whole package of its standard style from the hair up to the clothing and with the make-up. Every detail can change the effect of the whole especially the make-up coordination. Smokey eye that is always in fashion patronize by many because of its power to change the face dramatically into a stylish diva. It has been in fashion since then and the good thing is that this year, it is as big as ever

Betsey Johnson once again presents her ever latest styles at The Plaza. Johnson who is known for feminine and playful design showed awesome models with their party dresses in floral and animal prints and in bold and flashy colors. The talents were all presented friskily rather than in characterless runway.

So, on the stylish dive effects  Aside from their fabulous costumes that really energized the catwalk, their make-ups really attracted me. Supermodels were all in Smokey eyes transforming their natural beauty into another version of perky character. Since Smokey eyes is always and never fades in fashion, the models artist put a slight alter in the eye effects, giving the models coordination to the dresses they wore and proper blending for night outs. Amazingly how those made the models stand out and caught peoples attention.
As the models presented their get-ups, they showed extra-ordinary fancy character that recharged my body after waiting for quite long and excitedly. Smokey eyes really reflected the whole show, since it really completed the night. And the fact that runaways will never be in vitality without make-up.

The crowd moved by the music of Ida Maria playing RockIndie songs. Betsy once in a while join the ballroom stage while her models are dancing and on the move. Ida was arranged in the left and the mannequins were busy posing for pictures.

Lots of new trends may be created in the future, styles may be changed. But like Smokey eyes, there will always be in the trend that can not be diminished. Some things will remain as is and some will just be mixed to others. Smokey eyes which is always in the trend, and is slightly altered to make a new style. The whole show depicts a lasting fashion trend that promises a stylish future.
